Building Scope Studio: Turning product ambiguity into a clear MVP plan

Scope Studio is a lightweight GABE-owned product experiment built to help founders and growing teams turn rough product ideas into structured MVP build plans.

Why we built it

Most early software conversations start with an unclear idea.

A founder may know the problem they want to solve, but not the first version, the required workflow, the essential features, or the trade-offs that matter before development begins.

Scope Studio was built to demonstrate one of GABE’s core beliefs: product clarity should come before code.

The goal was not to build a complex SaaS platform. The goal was to create a focused tool that turns early product ambiguity into a useful first-pass MVP plan.

The product problem

Many teams begin development with a feature list instead of a product direction.

That usually creates problems:

  • 01MVPs become too large too early.
  • 02Important assumptions remain untested.
  • 03Technical decisions happen before the workflow is clear.
  • 04Teams confuse “more features” with “better product.”
  • 05Founders struggle to explain the build clearly to designers, engineers, or stakeholders.

Scope Studio focuses on reducing that ambiguity before execution begins.

V0 constraint

Keeping V0 intentionally small

The first version was deliberately scoped down.

This kept the product focused on one core workflow: rough idea → structured intake → AI-generated MVP build plan.

This constraint was important. A product scoping tool should not become over-scoped itself.

The core flow

01

Structured intake

Users answer focused product discovery questions instead of writing an open-ended prompt.

02

AI generation

The system converts the structured intake into a practical MVP build plan.

03

Build plan output

The result is rendered as a clean product document with sections for MVP scope, future scope, architecture, risks, and validation questions.

04

GABE handoff

Users who want help turning the scope into a real product can move into the GABE inquiry flow.

Key product decisions

Decision 01

Structured input over chat

A generic chat interface gives users too much freedom and creates inconsistent output. Scope Studio uses a guided intake so the AI receives better context and the user gets a more reliable build plan.

Decision 02

MVP scope over feature generation

The tool does not simply generate a large feature list. It separates what belongs in the MVP from what should wait until later.

Decision 03

Structured output over raw AI text

The build plan follows a fixed structure so the result feels like a product scoping deliverable, not an unformatted AI response.

Decision 04

No dashboard in V0

The product does not need accounts, saved projects, or management features to prove the core workflow. The first version is intentionally lightweight.

What Scope Studio demonstrates

Scope Studio is simple by design, but it demonstrates the type of work GABE wants to be known for.

01

Product strategy

Turning unclear ideas into practical product direction.

02

SaaS-style execution

Designing and shipping a focused web product with a clear user flow.

03

AI workflow design

Using AI as part of a structured workflow rather than as a generic chatbot.

04

Scope discipline

Making intentional decisions about what not to build in V0.

05

Business alignment

Connecting a product tool back to GABE’s own lead-generation and product discovery process.

Possible directions

What comes next

Scope Studio V0 is intentionally simple. Future improvements would only be considered if they improve the core workflow.

These are possibilities to evaluate, not committed features.

Potential improvements

  • 01Cleaner output refinement
  • 02Optional email delivery
  • 03Shareable scope links
  • 04Improved examples for different product types
  • 05Stronger analytics around completion and CTA behavior
